This is about an exciting group of Women Who Care in Allegan County - and that includes you! It all began by a few women in the Otsego area…Heather Badders, Melissa Koenig, Holly McCaw, Becky Patzer, Michelle Triemstra, and Rosemary Zink... who were inspired by the group in Kalamazoo County, but wanted to bring the same "girl power" to our area.
The group is called “Women Who Care” and we are looking for 100+ women who truly care about this community, Allegan County. We held our first meeting on Tuesday, August 12, 2014 at Rock Bottom in the Grill House in Allegan. Meetings start with check-in and social time from 5:30-6:00pm. The meeting begins at 6:00 pm. The meeting is completely member driven. Click on "How Does It Work" to find out more.
In 2006, a very community-minded woman named Karen Dunigan, of Jackson, Michigan, formed an alliance of women with the purpose of streamlining fundraising help for local agencies. Since 2006, the original group of 117 women has grown to over 245 women and distributed over $487,000 to local charities in the Jackson area. This concept is so effective that other communities in Michigan formed groups. Karen Dunigan passed away in April of this year, following a brief and hard fought battle against cancer. We are humbled to carry on her mission right here in Allegan County. This is a wonderful way to help the community where we live and work.
